Preparation and Evaluation of Porous ƒÀ - TCP Based Composites
نویسندگان
چکیده
The scaffolds composed of monolithic ƒÀ-TCP and ƒÀ-TCP/ƒ¿-TCP composites were fabricated by a low-loaded environmental processing. The pore introduction was attempted using starch, instead of polymer beads. The aqueous slurry of the mixture of ƒÀ-TCP and starch was prepared for an aqueous slip-casting. Problem on the heterogeneity distribution of the starch in aqueous slip-casting was solved by the addition of calcium phosphate gel into the slurry of ƒÀ-TCP/starch. Sintering of green bodies prepared by slip-casting was done by a pressureless sintering technique. The pore characteristics of sintered ƒÀ-TCP/starch samples were evaluated. Their microstructures of sintered bodies were observed by SEM. Effect of starch and calcium phosphate gel on the microstructures of sintered ƒÀ-TCP bodies was investigated.. Preparation and evaluation of geopolymer composites containing alumina particles at ambient temperature and after heating
In this research, geopolymer composites were prepared using metakaolin along with silica fume and potassium hydroxide as alkaline activators and alumina particles. The effect of alumina particle size to achieve castable microstructure and their mechanical properties were investigated. Different Si:Al mole ratio (1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3) and K:Si mole ratio (0.20, 0.25, 0.33) were formulated and the s...
متن کاملPhysicochemical Characterization of nano-clinoptilolite/-TCP /gelatin Scaffold and its Application in Periodontics
Background and aim: Due to the composite structure of the jaw bone, gelatin and beta-calcium phosphate (b-TCP) biomaterials have been used repeatedly in bone tissue engineering. Despite the desirable properties of scaffolds made, their application has been limited due to their poor mechanical properties and high degradability. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of clinoptilolit...
متن کاملPreparation of Porous and Dense Bulk Samples in Calcium Magnesium Silicate Systems using Steel Slag and Different Additive by Conventional Sintering Method (TECHNICAL NOTE)
In order to obtain the bulk brick like samples, the mixture of steel slag, and sintering aid additive (like dolomite, glass, perlite, borax and phosphate sodium) were sintered at 1100°C for 2 minute. The flat and bloated surface appearances were obtained. The bulk densities of final sintered composites were from 1.3 to 2.41 g/cm3 and total porosities were from 15 to 40%. The bending strengths v...
متن کاملBone Defect Regeneration by a Combination of a β-Tricalcium Phosphate Scaffold and Bone Marrow Stromal Cells in a Non-Human Primate Model.
BACKGROUND Reconstruction of large bone defects is a great challenge in orthopedic research. In the present study, we prepared composites of bone marrow-derived stromal cells (BMSCs) and β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP) with three novel aspects: proliferation of BMSCs with continuous dexamethasone treatment, cell loading under low pressure, and use of autologous plasma as the cell loading medium....
متن کاملInvestigations on europium doped alumino-silicate xerogel incorporated in micro-channel glass and porous silicon
Porous materials in general have received great attention from the last century. The development of new porous materials and the preparation of new composites based on porous materials is a subject of interest. The development of porous silicon based optical composite materials opened up new ways of incorporating optically active sol-gel materials into porous silicon. High purity silica optical...
